Ford Motor has discontinued its $7,500 electric vehicle lease credit program, mirroring a similar MOVE by General Motors. The decision comes after federal subsidies expired on September 30, forcing automakers to recalibrate their EV market strategies.

While competitors like Hyundai and Stellantis are offering cash incentives, Ford is focusing on maintaining competitive lease payments through alternative financing options. The company's financing arm continues to provide 0% APR for 72-month terms alongside other undisclosed incentives.

The original program involved Ford Credit purchasing EVs from dealer inventory, claiming the tax credit, then applying the savings to lease terms. This structure became untenable after Senator Bernie Moreno raised concerns about similar programs, prompting both Ford and GM to abandon the approach.
